My first hat!

I just recieved my homburg from Miller hats and it looks great. It fits well too, except being a "hard" hat it doesn't conform to my head exactly. It is a slight enough difference that I bet a smaller size hat would be way too small. Does anybody know what I could slip behind the sweatband to adjust the fit?

I'll go down to Lowe's tomorrow and check it out. I also planning on getting a haircut tomorrow which will affect the sizing slightly. I must be in between 7 3/8 and 7 1/2 where the former is always too small and the latter is always too big. Hopefully the weatherstripping will fix the problem though, I really don't want my hat blowing off my head and getting run over!

Akubra felt pads are best...for me.

I have used everything from tissue paper to paper towels, to dollar bills, to pieces of an old t-shirt. The best for me was the felt pads that come with Akubra hats. You can also order them from David Morgan without having to buy the hat. The weather stripping I tried was just too thick and kind of deformed the sweat band a little too much for my taste. You might like it depending on how much of a size difference you are looking to get.
