Just picked up an Adam from a thrift store. Don't know much about them, though I've heard of the brand before.
Ten bucks, and I was like "yeah...".

ah. Nice score!
I'm not an expert on Adam logos, but I'd guess mid 40's...
Yep. It's a green size/model label. and it's not Pliant-eze or aqua-shed. and it's a $7.50 price. The three-crest liner, not the three hats. I don't know what this means yet. Perusing that Adam thread and stuff.

Great color scheme on that beauty.
Which is a good reminder. If I treat it, it won't be with anything that alters the colors. It seems that much of the aesthetic on these vintage hats is about the colors.
To remove a couple of minor soiled spots on this baby, I brushed it with denatured alcohol. My routine procedure.
But this time it made some bleached-out areas where the band is stitched in. this has not happened to me before.

Also, I note that the internal band is lined with some sort of plastic wire. This may be why it's said "good luck getting the Adam to stretch" (?)

I was just wearing a good hat while attaching some sticky weather stripping. At least your spots are evenly spaced, and close to the space between crown and brim. Still a great find, and a great hat you'll enjoy.

Great hat. The Adam I had was great and held an iconic shape, but was stiff as a modern cowboy hat.
Interesting. Maybe the retailer-milner shellacked it or something. This one is maybe my fourth vintage hat which is easily finger-bashable.
