Hello everyone,
new member here. Been lurking for a while and recently thought I could as well just register as member since I keep coming back.
Anyways, today my first A2 jacket arrived from Aero - I need advice from you A2 experts, I'm not sure the jacket is too small. It is a 38, and pretty tight around the shoulder area. Also not sure about the length.

Thanks guys!

I am told that Ken Calder, owner of Aero, feels strongly that the A-2 should fit snugly. My Aero A-2 Bronco size 44 fits me similarly, although I could easily move up to a 46 as you could also move up to a 40.

Looks spot-on to me. It's covering your belt and the sleeves have enough play. It'll settle in with a bit of wear and mould to your body shape after a bit of wear. Here's mine:

Actually Sloan above is the one who told me what Ken said regarding A-2 fit. Here's mine.

Welcome to the Lounge, mate.
And firstly, I think that's a great looking A2, if you ask me!
And secondly, I'd say that you can't go making that Hulk Hogan move in an A2 - or in any A2 - and expect to judge anything by it. All A2's will feel tight across the shoulders and back if you do that in one - and that's because they have a one-piece back panel with no give. So I think it's quite natural for your first impression to be that it's too tight across the shoulders - when improbably isn't at all. That's just the cut and design. So the rear shot looks fine, no matter how it may feel. You'll get used to it.
From the photos, I'd say the sleeve length is spot on perfect.
The chest width looks good to me too. The only question there is what are you wearing beneath the A2 and can you layer up with a sweatshirt/hoodie/sweater if you wanted to for the cooler fall days?
If anything, the body looks just a tad short ?? Others here know Aero A2's better than me and can advise better in this respect. But even if they all say it's good, but it still feels short to you and it distracts you from feeling good in it, don't be afraid to ask Aero for an exchange for something a titch longer and that you feel fits you better. They'll see you right.

I think this is an Aero 18775, right?

The fit looks alright, but for the pattern...I think Aero made this one too boxy and a bit short (this could be the way you wearing the jeans).

If you compare the same contract from GW:
front_view3.jpg

And BK:

they doesn't look as boxy as yours, also, this contract should be easy and comfortable to wear, you should not feel any restriction if you get the size right.

I like a nice short A2 jacket (personal preference) & the shoulder fit is the snuggest of any flight jacket I own (which is a few but not as many as some on here).

Looks 1" or 1.5" short in the body. Arms and shoulders look right but do they feel too uncomfortable?
My 1756 contact from Aero felt a little tight in the armpit when I first got it but it soon passed with wear.

I agree with this. The OP's jacket is a tad too short. The leather looks thicker than that found on most original A2s, which affects the way it drapes.

Thanks for your help guys, its appreciated.
It is a horse hide 18775 - forgot to mention its an apprentice made jacket.
As for the length, I do prefer to wear low riding pants, which doesn't help I guess. The shoulder area will probably wear in and fit sometime… It is only tight when I flex the arms, just hanging relaxed the fit is snug but not constricting.

So basically the question is whether I can get used to the jacket being a tad short :D

Decided to return this jacket - Probably will never get used to it being so short.
I found a 25" length jacket on the aero webpage and another 27" length. Should I go for the 25" or will I be able to pull off the 27"? I'm so not sure... plz haaalp :D

Sorry for pushing this... But I seem to kind of develop OCD regarding this...

I think it looks a tad too short. I think the boxy look is just because it is new. Lastly, I think you could have gone up one size, but I think this will eventually stretch and mold to your physique. Nice jacket!

When I first saw it, I thought it looked a bit too wide in the front. Then I did a double take, and now I really like the fit. Too bad it wasn't comfortable. It wasn't too short either, but you have to be comfortable in it to wear it, so you made the right call. Your next one will be perfect, or close to it.

27inches back length might work depending on your height or if you have a slightly longer torso for your height. Longer backs are also good if like to go shirt untucked or wear lower waisted jeans.
