Both your jacket and dino's look great. Surprised to see how great they fit and how the leather drapes quite perfectly. In the past, the chinese factories merely copied the design without paying much thoughts to the cut, the chest to waist drop etc. so things are changing.
Price is not the only factor here, unlike say a fake Rolex. I am in between sizes when it comes to Freewheelers jackets. I have a size 36 San Mateo that I can barely zip up holding my breath. For some reasons only known to Freewheelers, the jump from size 36 to 38 is huge while size 40 is barely 1cm bigger than the 38. The chinese made copy seem to fit me more from the measurements given online and that is a huge plus. If only I can find one with reasonably good leather like the Korean shop.

I wear Type3 jackets, none of them are Levis. when the design works everyone is making something similar... plagiarism and lack of creativity perhaps, but not a fake unless they copy the brand.

Not wanting to send this thread in that direction but they are using both photos of the actual Thedi jackets and even photos of Theodoros wearing the jacket on their listings ...so I think calling it a fake Thedi is pretty fair.

To me that image usage is the one thing that is out of order here.

As to coping vintage styles then yes, I figure most of these styles are open season and as others have said, its a great way to try a style you aren't sure about or can't justify the price of something more 'branded' for the wear it will get.
Jackets look great too, I imagine as they wear they will only look better.

I mentioned the Bretron thing as a joke, but yes- the stealing of photos is intolerable. Unfortunately like any other intellectual property, theft seems to be the norm in Chinese business. I don’t understand why they grab user pics from TFL, when showing their own friends in their garments would do them so much more.

It is true that the such theft of photos happen a lot on the internet probably a lot more on Taobao but it also happens on ebay and other Western sellers' site. Only difference is ebay and the Western sellers will reluctantly remove the photo when they receive any complaint and Taobao will likely ignore any complaint unless it is coming from a Chinese/Taiwanese dealer (there is a Chinese seller on Taobao who claims to be official dealers of Aero and there is a Taiwan dealer of Lewis, Aero and Eastman). https://world.taobao.com/dianpu/128359969.htm

I suspect it's often the case that they haven't yet made the jacket concerned, but instead put up pictures of jackets they reckon they can make, and then wait for someone to order one. If you go into any of the downtown tailors in Beijing, it's the same - out come the designer label brochures, and they'll offer to make you the one you pick out the picture of. Naturally, the end result may vary, depending on the skill and intent of the persons involved. "Delivered to your hotel in 24 hours!" is typically a red flag...

This is a complicated matter, on the one hand you have the leather shops that will give you a catalogue and ask you what you want. And on the other hand, there seems to be a batch of makers copying not the originals, but rather the companies reproducing the originals.

It is surprising to see the likes of Freewheelers being "reproduced", these makers normally go for the biggest trends and brands. Does that mean that the repro scene has picked up some sort of critical mass?
