Here's a couple more Blues I just picked up from Black Sheep Hat Works.

An early Playboy inspired number made from vintage felt

I have yet to get a felt hat with artistic venting in the crown. Let us know if you find it makes a difference heat wise. I live up the I5 in Vancouver, Canada and our weather is not hot enough most summer days for a Panama so I had Mike at NW Hats make me a casual felt that was pounced to a real light weight, just a tip liner and it is my spring/early summer hat. I thought about venting the crown but opted not to but still wonder if it would have been a good idea.

I avoid felt in warm weather preferring straws instead (this may be blasphemy but I generally like straws better than felts) so can't provide a lot of experience. My guess is that the vents probably don't help a significant amount but they can't hurt either. That's why I prefer straw in warm weather, the looser weaves breath nicely. The finer weave Monticristi's are probably about the same as wearing felt though. I find myself removing them quit a bit to fan my noggin a'naturelle briefly

I can tell you from personal experience this year (2016) that the SAB Herbert Johnson Poet is an enormous disappointment. The felt is flimsy, the satin lining is haphazardly glued in place, and the bash was awful. I seriously doubt the crown was steam-shaped but was merely pinched (dry) before shipping. The delivered product looks sloppy and NOTHING like the image on the SAB site.
