Hi, My name is Steven and I live in Cape Town.
I am so glad I found this place. Such awesome information here. I have been an Aero fan since the 80's, here is my story.............
One day I was walking in Covent Garden in London and I set eyes on the most beautiful leather jacket that I had ever seen. It was an Aero Barnstormer in black CXL Steerhide. I went into the store and placed an order for one immediately.
I also fell in love with the classic Half Belted and a few months later I ordered one. Alas the Barnstormer is long gone but I still have my black HB. It was made in 1989.
A year or so later Aero made a copy of the WW1 vest worn by so many British soldiers and I asked if they would make me one in black HH which they duly did.
Fast forward to 2005 and I was jonesing for another Barnstormer type coat. My brother and I drove up to Galashiels and I ordered a single breasted Cordovan Steerhide Barnstormer with cotton lining for the mild Cape Town winter. Alas I was 107Kgs when I ordered it and I am now a svelte 80Kgs, so it looks like a tent on me. A shame that it has to go but I never wear it.
I am heading to Galashiels in May to order a new jacket (probably a Hudson) and maybe something else!
I plan to have my Black HB relined. It's a little to big for me now but I have such a strong attachment to it I cannot sell it.
Here are the pics of my little collection............
