If you look closely at western stage wear from the 30s and 40s, flaired legs were actually quite common. In fact, depending on the maker, they were sometimes the norm.

I would not argue with that, but I think i'd just prefer the 40's non western swingsuit. If I ever had the money, oh boy.

It's reminiscent of a later, slightly flashier western suit worn by country singer Hank Williams in the '40s.

There was/is a very similar pair of trousers (but very different fabric) in a vintage store in London marked "2-piece" "£65". But the jacket is nowhere to be seen. They reckon it was either stolen or sold as a separate jacket for some reason. I am desperate to know what kind of jacket went with the trousers …
