I know Cody pretty well

I met him in the late 90s when he was playing with a band called Unchecked Aggression when we played with them in Corpus Christi at some shit club that I can't remember the name of but I remember they didn't have running water... we ended up playing with them again many times over the next several years and met up at SXSW a few times ... oh the stories from those nights

we were actually with them on the tour that broke up that band

he doesn't show it much in his country music but he is actually one hell of a guitar player

I agree but I was just poking at HJ a bit. One of the things I really like about Dusty and Billy is they never seem to take themselves too seriously.
absolutely ... they always take something like a hat ... or a poncho ... or a furry guitar ... whatever ... and sort of exaggerate it ... the beards even ...
that has been their thing since fairly early in their careers

I prefer the early days - as much as I dig them, the silliness gets in the way of the music for me sometime - so good thing I listen to them mostly on vinyl still. Their Eliminator Tour was my first legit rock concert and even then I didn't like their direction as much as their first several albums. The Legs video was sure something at the time, but the sound was too pop for me. Anyhow, back on track with some hats:
