saw them in Jersey and he indeed sounded as good if not better than he did nearly 30 years ago

Im glad for him. Wont begrudge him nuthin. He/they came at a moment. That wont be lost. The fact that he still delivers a strong vocal and stage performance is all the more to his cred as an artist.

I just learned from Roland White's FB that 5-string banjo picker, Victor Jordan, died on August 25. Here he is with Bill Monroe And His Bluegrass Boys - Bill Monroe (mandolin), Kenny Baker (fiddle), Roland White (guitar) and Mac Wiseman (bass) - all in great Westerns:
