Roy Fox and his Orchestra -- Midnight, The Stars And You (1934)
Many are familiar with the somewhat iconic version by Ray Noble via the movie The Shining, here's a somewhat different take.
Hello! I am a student in New Zealand this year marks my 8th year as a trumpet player. I play in my school junior big band. I highly recommend Mack the Knife (Bobby Darin edition is best in my opinion), Luck be a Lady, Sing, Sing, Sing and much more. Really you just discover your favourite big band pieces by listening on the Golden Era playlists on Youtube.
My favourite is Mack the Knife, probably the best big band piece. Another 2nd favourite is Woodchopper's Ball, with a nice snazzy clarinet or trumpet improv is good. Listen to the Lawrence Welk show one for Woodchopper's Ball, the one where the woman conductor is doing. Real classic.
