Serenity; hmmmm, saw it before watching Firefly and loathed it. Really loathed it. However, a friend persuaded me to watch the series, loaned it to me on DVD and by the fourth episode I was completely hooked! Rewatched Serenity after that and guess what? It was still rubbish IMO! OK it wasn't as bad as I initially thought but it still wasn't a very good film....at all. I really didn't like it.

I was so in love with you until I read this. Why did you have to break my heart?

Why?

I liked the dragnet movie. It had Dan Akkroyd of Saturday Night Live and the Blues Brothers fame. He played Joe Friday's son that is now in his father's old job. I thought is was a decent movie. It did get kind of campy though when Friday ended up catching the villian, that had escaped in a jet, with a LAPD Fighter Jet with flashing blue light. It was funny though. I also liked the remake of McHales Navy.

Guess that's jus' the kind of gal I am, Hun! ;)

OK it wasn't appalling but it wasn't a patch on the series, which was brilliant! The Operative was uber cool, Jayne as ever, was the best character and there were some great one liners (Kaylee's remark about batteries for example!). However, to me it just felt rushed and there wasn't that je ne sais quois that Firefly had.

So Happyfilmluvguy, when you say cartoons, I assume you mean graphic novels too? In that case, I'd like to nominate League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and V for Vendetta. The former, I am told is not really a good representation of Frank Miller's work but I liked it. It was a throughly enjoyable romp!

The latter was genius. I loved everything about it. And I got very goosebumpy too, which is generally a good sign!

Another vote for Sin City too. Can't fault it at all.
