Edward Everett Horton
He seemed to appear in every Hollywood comedy of his era. He especially seemed to pop up opposite Fred Astaire in his films.
Maybe not so much classified as a sidekick in the traditional sense, but he was always there, the comic relief, oddly enough in comedies. And, I always enjoy his appearances. He was a lot of fun.
