Those spaghetti westerns were so bad. So bad they were good?

I love those movies, they were just plain good, amazing entertainment from start to finish. As to authenticity, well, that's a whole other discussion, and one that can be had about every era and style of Western movie over the years since the birth of the genre.

In the original The Razor's Edge (1946) Tyrone Power wears a stunning array of hats. Snap brim fedoras when he's dressed to hang with his upper class friends a beret when he becomes a working man in Paris; he arrives in India with a straw optimo. Clifton Webb, the snob, travels in a bowler but otherwise favors a Homburg, as does the narrator/author M. Somerset Maugham (Herbert Marshall). And then there's the de-frocked priest he works with in the coal mines -- check out the cap with a lamp on it.

For the record - I love ALL Film Noir!: The blockbusters and critically acclaimed as well as the low budget and drive in specials. But I especially love the hidden gems. In particular, those with beautiful cinematography, glimpses of Americana, and of course great hats.

I have included pics from a Great Preston Foster film, "The Hunted". I would consider this a middle of the road Film Noir as far as its notoriety/acclaim, however, for me it is top notch when it comes to cinematography. And I think all will agree - Preston wears a damn good hat! Also, the actress is Belita who was actually better known as a professional ice skater from England. The image the camera captured of her beside the rain pelted window is to me,... what Film Noir is all about. Gotta love those femme fatales!!!

I have been unable to find a thread that discusses the lesser known movies of this genre. If anyone knows of such a discussion, could you please point me in the right direction. I am always looking for new discoveries.

Thanks.
