I keep looking at that one too! Bet that looks impressive worn with that 5" brim.
If I was able to buy one I would reshape both the crown and the brim. I would either reshape it to look like a bigger version of my Silver belly Resistol I posted earlier or I would reshape it to look something closer to Tom Selleck's Quigley hat. There's definitely plenty of hat to work with on that one.

Damn, not another one!
You piqued my curiosity so I just looked and found this: "Based on sales data from a hat store that sells many thousands of hats per year (Levine Hat Company), the average American male's hat size is 7 3/8. Head sizes are increasing here, because just a few years ago it was 7 1/4."

I'm guessing the topic has been discussed more than once here on TFL.

Somewhere around here there's a poll thread discussing just that, but since the last software upgrade the search feature can't seem to find a lot of older threads. If I remember correctly 7-3/8 (59 cm) and 7-1/2 (60 cm) were the most prevalent sizes here on The Lounge.

I rewatched The Big Sleep (1946) and was really enjoying the hats.

This a great shot of Marlow (Bogart) and Eddie Mars' (John Ridgely) hats respectively. Any idea what hat Eddie Mars is wearing? It has "presence".

I managed to look past Dorothy Malone and noticed the size of the extra's hat in the Acme bookshop scene.

I can't cock a hat on my head without looking like a.........well, you know, but those cats could pull it off.

Tom made her a hat that she didn't like. She just wanted a plain one she said. He was very distracted by her when he was measuring her head as she was flirting. I don't think I could handle that myself. Probably would get the numbers wrong and have to go back to re measure her.

It is just a plain black cattleman with trail dust. The unique feature is the hat band. Would like to find a similar hatband. Anyone have an idea where? Or a closeup of the detail. Is it braided horse hair?

Anybody see the new WONDER WOMAN? I'm a super amateur but I was really impressed by Steve Trevor's fedora. I wondered what others thought.

I really like the crown dent as well and plan to something similar in my next fedora. What do you call this kind of dent? It's not quite a center dent, more like a long, thin teardrop.
I haven't seen the movie, but based on the photos I've seen that's how I'd describe it--a narrow Teardrop.

Robert Redford as Jeremiah Johnson

One of the all-time greats! I still sing that song sometimes as I'm out hiking and camping:
"Jeremiah Johnson made his way into the mountains.
He was betting on forgetting all the pain he left behind."
Very influential in my life, and my Akubra looks quite a lot like the hat he's wearing here! (Total coincidence!)

"And some say he's up there still..."

^ it looks like a diamond that wants to slip back into a factory teardrop, but hard to know from that shot. It is pretty.

Yeah, these photos are what I could find on google. It is a gorgeous fedora to my eyes and I would love to bash a new hat in a similar way. Today I'm ordering either the FED IV or the Campdraft so I should have enough crown soon to play with! (The Banjo Paterson has zero crown. I think it's most accurate measurement is negative crown actually... ;) I love my hat to bits but I have come to realize that I need some crown in my life).
