Great movie and music. Very dark though.

The book is even better. In fact all of Daniel Woodrell's books are great. The book "Woe to Live On" is what the screen play for the movie "Ride With the Devil" was written from. The movie generated demand for another printing of the original book & so the book title was changed to match the title of the movie. Now the original first edition of "Woe to Live On" is worth a lot of money to collectors.

I read another one of his about a tavern fire in a small town during the Twenties. "The Maid's Version", good book.

Since when were straw boaters worn in the winter? For those of you who may not have seen this series, it takes place in Atlantic City, NJ. Was it typical to see this type of hat on the shore / beaches in colder weather?

Ebsen's hat looks like an OPEN ROAD, the other hat's brim is too wide brim to be the same hat.
