Mouton collar maker in UK

Hi guys

I’d like to get a detachable mouton collar made for my aero HWM.

Both aero and Byson Leathers turned down my request - aero said they won’t like the aesthetics of snaps for detachable, and Byson won’t do it without an existing collar as pattern and won’t matter even if I send in my jacket.

So I wonder if any of you used a leather maker or jacket maker in UK who is willing to take my order ?

I know the simple way is to get a jacket with permanent mouton collar like G1 or aero Thunder Bay, but I really don’t want to accumulate so many jackets that don’t get rotated much.

Not in the UK, but Shangri-La has a detachable (Real) Mouton Collar in various sizes. Has a loop button that attaches to the hook and sleeve pouches for the front of the collar. I asked them for measurements once for a different jacket to size. I am sure they can help you out if you get the length.

Thank you for your help above - it is appreciated.

Since I posted, I’ve actually sold my aero HWM, and bought (and subsequently sold) a Shangri-La Varenne with removable mouton collar. I took lots of pictures of the collar construction and the throat strap.

I’ve exchanged a few emails with Donna and she is super helpful.

So I now have a piece of mouton pelt which I bought from Etsy, and it’s big enough for making two collars.

Jacket wise I just bought a Vanson Enfield which is what I plan to send to Donna to make a collar for. I’ll send a second jacket which is also a straight zip if there is plenty of mouton left for another collar.
