Oooo, I just remembered another one:

Ivy leaves. (green again!) There's something about the pointy leaves against the curling tendrils that is pleasing to me.

I also have a beautiful white Edwardian counterpane with patterns of acorns and oak leaves. These and ivy on damask are my favourites.

I don't have a motif myself, per se, though everyone else seems to think it should be cats and I end up with tons of useless cat tsotschkes.

Otherwise, it's light pink, almost always combined with black. I just got the cutest pair of pink pedal pushers and they're adorable. My room at home is painted light pink with black trim.

I don't have an exact motif, but I've always been associated with flowers due to my name (Fleur is my real first name). I always used to draw a little flower next to my name when I signed it on a card or whatever, still do with my family. And I always get flower themed presents and cards myself.

Corsets and anything Burlesque.

Anything slightly risque or porn-ish and my friends point to me.

I have really really grand ideas about my bathroom re-do. We moved into our house 3 years ago and have been slowly redoing it room by room. The usual paint, pictures, furniture, and such. But I have been saving my bathroom (or boudoir, as I call it) for last because it requires love and time. But I told hubby I want it to look like a burlesque queen's dressing room. I already have the glittery paint picked out and started collecting art, such as an autograph pic of Miss Dita Von Teese and my personal pin-up pic.

I still have to come up with a good stage name.

It's a shame you didn't get to see the Whites. I'm planning on travelling to South Africa for a month (I just need to money.. lol) to work on a project with Great Whites. I'll be working on the boats, cleaning wetsuits and helping tourists and all that but I will get to go in the cage as many time as I want :D:D I'm also planning on doing some projects in other countries with animals like Orang Utans and Sea Turtles and stuff :)
That would be *fantastic* - SA must be the best chance guaranteed sightings short of getting to the Farallons. Hope you get to go, and take lots of photos for the lounge. Have you worked on many dive boats?

My sister works for one of the major wildlife conservation agencies, and I tagged along when we visited Ningaloo Reef and she met up with the manager of the local turtle project - tremendous fun!

Penguins....I have two different tattoos of them. I used to get a lot of presents that were Penguin related.

Pok-a-dots. Love the navy blue background with white dots.

The thing with having a motif is that people might start assuming that you like all kinds of junk as long as it displays your motif. A friend of mine is starting to get really frustrated because she loves giraffes, but hates all the extremely tacky giraffe cups, giraffe curtains, giraffe bedsheets, giraffe figurines, giraffe clothing and so on that people give her and expect her to love and wear or display in her flat!

If I have a motif, it's apes. (I'll take monkeys too, in a pinch.) I am very fascinated with the big apes, they are my favourite animal! So far I have escaped ape-junk, but I have accumulated some ape and monkey-themed shoes, t-shirts, figurines and such that I love. I just hope it won't take over, after all I don't want to live in a zoo. (Some people might allready think I do, thanks to the huge colorful gorilla portraits i painted in art school some years ago, and that now adorns my walls.)

My most typical motif is a color-theme: I mostly wear red or purple, combined with black. So does my flat.

I had the opposite problem of your giraffe fond friend. I had to tell people that I hate yellow because there was a time where a certain bright yellow was unavoidable here in Denmark and I got fed up with seeing it every where so when we moved house I banned anything yellow. Now people are confused that a few yellow items have popped up here and there.

I want to avoid tacky gifts too so I haven't mentioned my fondness of tiger images to anyone for over 12 years.

My kitchen is teal and black, and thus, people keep buying me teal and or black kitcheny things. The thing is... teal is a difficult color to match if you're not looking at the exact teal you're trying to match, so a lot of the stuff is not-quite teal or too blue or whatever.

Also, my mother keeps buying me leopard print clothing for some reason whenever she stumbles upon it in thrift stores, so I guess I've been nudged into a "motif."

With a nick name of Miss Dottie (from the last name Dotson)

I'm all about the POLKA DOTS!!!

And green.

When the two come together--it's enough to make me faint with joy!

However, my rather newish married name Van Every has not inspired a love of vans.

Leopard print and polka dots.

Don't care how many people are wearing them, or if they are the "in" thing at the moment, I love them both.

With so many pretty ideas here, I would love to see some of your outfits... peacocks and mermaids especially.

I also love humming birds ( i am thinking about getting one as a tattoo ) leopard and sailor/pirate themes
I had seen a pretty big hummingbird brooch over at a shop. I had my eye on it for weeks, then when I did buy it, I used it as a closure for my little jacket flaps, well, It lasted a 2 uses, I was shoked because it was Liz Claiborne, and I thought it would have some livability, if thats even a word, I meant longivity;) :p

Felines (all shapes, sizes and dimensions - and I do get the thing Helen referred to earlier of people buy me any old cr@p as long as it's got kitties on it.... )

The funny thing is that the motif I'd choose for myself is frogs lol people tend to assume that since I have three cats I must want to surround myself with moggy tat!

Actually I shouldnt have said that... knowing my luck someone I know will read this and I'll be drowned in a sea of amphibian tat for ever more...

Me too, my other half is called Frog (nickname that surpassed his given name many decades ago).

So for me:

Frogs
Lilac flowers
White roses
Fruity things
Anything bird related ........... and the day I find some vintage fabric with wading birds on I think that I'll just die with joy!

I wish there was something related to my name like Fleur has, but as it's a derivative of the name Elizabeth then it would probably have to be Tudor diamonds and rubies wouldn't it!!lol

AllAboutEve - do you do toads as well, or just the smooth variety?

Am rather partial to most amphibians, even the ugly ones, but somehow newts don't have the same aesthetic appeal to most designers
