Someone posted a few months back, a link to the most amazing swing dance clip I've ever seen, then 2004 Lindy Hop championship winners... here tis, found the clip: (takes a minute to load but Worth it!)
Nathalie & Yuval, mpeg video

tonight & last night though, on America's Got Talent: Check out this couple, call themselves "Realis", not swing dancers but MAN, those moves would fit in PERFECTLY with swing!

(click link below... then at the top of the site, click the "JUDGE'S CHOICE" link... then when the video starts, click "full screen" in the lower right)

MAN, gotta get some swing dance lessons & find someone to try some of that stuff with... any folks here have suggestions of what kind of practice (besides Lots and Lots of weight training) would be appropriate for [a lower-key version of] those kinds of fancier moves? (not that I'll really do it, just curious...)

Gymnastics maybe? In case you didn't notice that girl weighs about 90 lbs soaking wet. That would help a lot (a tiny partner).

This is a form of dancesport known as Theatre Arts, you can find teachers for it. I've seen crazier stuff than this done in full evening dress (and heels on the ladies). Or you can take an aerials workshop with Natalie and Yuval.

However, if you can't dance yet, you would be better off taking dance classes, because even if you can toss a 90 lb girl in the air, if you can't dance gracefully you'll just look dumb.

Thats my 2 cents anyway.

Now That's a perfectly logical choice, sounds good. Putting it on the list...

Well, YEAH... lol Took a ballroom dance in college & enjoyed it a lot (especially Swing) but haven't done much since... getting the itch to start up again.

I just had aerials practice last night.
I'm no expert by any means, BUT still I suggest finding a gal 5'4" or smaller if you are going to do moves like the pendulum. Warm-up and stretching are essential. I've found that my gymnastics background helps, as mentioned. Also, for the gal, sit-ups are important. Learn from a professional before you start practicing, to make sure you know how to do the moves safely. The more advanced moves need serious training with spotters, matts and sometimes even harness/wire.
