My other Montecristi Custom Hat Works is a 100X pure beaver western. It’s a firm felt, but it has the nicest hand of any hat I own. Rick @humanshoes is finishing a nutria hat for me right now that I think might compare, but until I felt this hat I didn’t know fur felt could be given such a fine finish.

I have people from Ecuador tell me all the time how they can't make a tall, wide-bimmed hat anymore. I say, baloney.

Sure, it's faster to pump out small, fat-straw, loose-weave hats that can be weaved in a day or two... but it's not what I want.

These are great examples, @deadlyhandsome and @Bill Hughes !

They have quite a few wide brim Panamas on their web site, but don't see ones with both wide brim and as high a crown as these examples. They are special hats.

Here’s my latest. It’s a bit tight and it has some condition issues. The biggest issue in the small split on the crown. I think this one is worth sending off to be repaired rather than me taking a bottle of super glue to it.
