Mingo Slim

I hadn't realized it had been since August that Mingo Slim last posted until a comment Lefty made referring to my win of a Stetson thin ribbon. He made a routine post, and nothing since.

From his comments I think he lives relatively close to me, but I don't know where. I hope he's doing OK!

Regards,
Tom

It's been forever since I posted. No one missed me :(
Thats ok though. I understand...I think?...

Anyway, I have been really busy with work and stuff. In the last year, from a chance encounter with a casting agent after a magic show, I started doing small bit parts in tv/movies that were filming in the area. Now I am working on a movie with Jason Sudeikis and Owen Wilson!

So between that and magic, I just don't get on my computer and instead use my phone for everything. Which is usually just email. :/

but I will enjoy reading all the posts and trying to play catch up tonight.

I missed you even if no one else did. :D I still remember that time when we met at Churchill's and had a drink (or two or three).

It has been ten days. I am just so used to him posting eight or nine times a day. It is unlike him to disappear for so long. [huh]

His profile says he was active today. Maybe he just didn't see that any of us are looking for him?

I've been largely among the missing because of other commitments. Mostly I've been playing bass in a surf band and spending spare time pursuing more information about my playing. My primary interest is in hats, and I'm in pretty good shape there - so I stop in periodically to the hats forum but haven't posted much for some months.

Being a prolific contributor like Marc Chevalier can be demanding.
He is married with a child and probably busy with real life.

Farewell Fedora Lounge...

I think this is the most suitable thread to say goodbye to the wonderful group of people on this site.

As of June I am moving out from my parents. The reasons for this are numerous, and not entirely pleasant. I am to be moving in with my mol and her parents and completing school (technically college) there. I realise such a move at my age - just 18 - seems unwise, but I've been contemplating it for four months and decided that it's what's best for me.

However, this post was not intended to rant about my problems. I simply offer some explanation for my departure. I will seldom be able to post here when I move out, and between now and June I have exams. Therefore, in effect I will do little more than lurk and very occaisionally post.

I want to thank everyone on this site for contributing and maintaining it. From the bartenders who spend so much of their time looking after it, to the experienced members who provide the knowledge, to the unexperienced like me who learn and provide questions. I've learned a lot here and made a number of friends. Reading the posts here has also built my confidence to dress in a vintage looking way every day rather than just occaisionally. Where I go I intend to wear a suit or sportcoat every day, along with a fedora, pocket square and nice tie (DJ and homburg for special occaisions).

If anyone should so wish I can be contacted via the email listed in my profile, on MSN (using that email) or facebook.

So to finnish, thank you very much lounge and good bye. It's been a pleasure and an honour to be part of it.

Best of luck, AveEdwards, hope it all goes very well and come back when you can!
Really nice of you to give the bartenders a prop too, we often forget they are taking care of us.

I'm sorry to see this place go. Just think though, it could be worse. I could be leaving because I no longer like vintage style. In my case that's not the case since it's only a matter of lack of internet availability.

Thank you very much :). The bartenders deserve their praise. I mean, I sometimes even feel that Scotrace is like a father figure (especially after he warned me about the dangers of playing the wheel).

Good-bye for now, Mr. Alan. I've enjoyed your posts, and hope to see you back full-swing someday. And keep dressing like the man you are...
Thank you very much Widebrim. :) I will be back one day. Even if it's just to post the odd picture in the "What are you wearing" thread.
