Miller hats info

Fellow hat lovers,

Have any of you had any experience with the Miller hat named 'the Manhattan'? It is displayed on the Miller website in a great light grey colour that interests me, a colour I can't get here in an Akubra. I'd also like to know if the brown Manhattan is a dark brown (chocolate or close) and also comes with the black ribbon. Alas, I can't see an e-mail address for me to contact Miller displayed on their website. Do any of you know of a contact e-mail address or are able to answer my queries?

I have extensive experience with Miller hats. They were my main hats for a while, so here's what I know.

The light gray Manhattan is really nice. The felt is soft, smooth, and the color is fantastic. In my opinion, it is the nicest hat that Miller sells. I have never seen a brown one, though.

I can also tell you that Millers are mainly fair-weather dress hats. They will not stand up to the punishment that an Akubra can take. So, if you want a dress hat, you have a winner. If you want something to wear in bad weather, I know Art has a felt color called Silver Mist that is almost the exact same color. It's NOT Silver Belly!

As for contacting them, if you go to the bottom of the web page, you'll see "Hat Accessories" in red. A little below that there are links for customer service and stuff. Click "Contact Us". They always get back to you within a couple days, and can give you details on their hats.

Gotta second that- Miller Hats is a great company to deal with, but the Akubras are infinitely tougher.

Thanks for your advice too, Flitcraft. I'm well used to the toughness of my Akubras. Following Not-Bogart's post, I decided to contact a few hatteries here about Akubra light grey felts, but was assured that the 'sky grey' was discontinued a few years back and is simply not available.

I think I will simply save my pennies for a quality Art Fawcett fedora. It'll be expensive considering the diffrence in the value of the Australian dollar to the U.S. dollar, but I know it will be the finest quality purchase in headgear I'll ever make.
