On a much happier note, I have received the Navy sub sweater I ordered from
Peter Christian, which matches the ecru OK sub I’ve had for years but surpasses OK in the fit and the length of the turn back cuffs. It’s love at first sight! Too warm to wear it yet but I can’t wait. I’ll post some photos when I get a spare moment but probably on the fishermen’s sweaters thread.
You could put the photos up on the SubMariner / RAF White Roll Neck thread too.

I am sorry to see that you had problems with the OK sweaters, I have always found them to be excellent. You should complain to them.
I tend to wash mine by hand in Persil Silk & Wool, then dry them supported on an outside washing line, they come up fine and smell very fresh indeed.

I hand wash mine cold with Persil, Woolite or the Co-op version, short spin and hung over a drying rack with enough air circulation. I also use a wash in proofer in the final rinse, which is very successful. The house smells of damp dog for awhile, but wet wool does smell like that.

If it would have smelled a little „animalish“ it wouldn’t have been an issue but that blue Welbeck stank massively and like a dump for chemical waste...;)

Autumn suddenly seems to have arrived in my part of the UK. Much cooler and very rainy than it has recently been. Ideal WP weather, I was in my Army WP all day yesterday, am now in a Navy WP and will probably change into RAF WP later.

I am really enjoying the coming of autumn. Today I have also been wearing a Navy WP. Yesterday evening it was the Purple Mix version.

Picked up an original issue GOB sweater from this Army-Navy Surplus storefront in Chicago many years ago. Incredibly warm, great winter working sweater. Mine has a tear in one wrist from a stint working at an unheated welding shop when it got caught in a latch, but the tear never progressed/unraveled. Very well made utilitarian garment.

I bought the OK Rothey Derby Crew neck sweater as mentioned above, it arrived yesterday and is excellent. It has large turnback cuffs and suede elbow and shoulder patches. Good and warm as well of course.

The suede patches on the Rothley are larger than the patches on the conventional WP. The body is also longer. As I might have mentioned when this came up on another thread, the body of the Rothley sweater covers my backside when I am out hiking or just sitting at my desk (unlike the ‘normal’ WP) and so I call it a fart cushion.
