It's still in the mid-80s here. What is this "autumn" you speak of?
We’re not there yet but there are intimations of Autumn! I can’t wait!!!

It makes me think of photos/postcards of French sailors from the early C20th.
Yes, Breton Style. It makes me think of photos/postcards of French sailors from the early C20th.
Ys, I was just thinking that, it is a good look. And Russian style, they still wear those striped shirts today, color by branch.
I see that Outdoor Knitwear have just bought a new sweater in connection with the latest James Bond Film, I think they did this a few months ago, but it seems to be updated, based on their 1945 range, but now in Navy Blue, with draw string, shoulder and Elbow Patches too, I don't think their other 1945s had the elbow patches.
I think in the Bond film, his sweater is not really a proper WP, I think it is basically, a ribbed navy blue crew neck sweater infact. In some of the Roger More Bonds Films and a couple after that, I do remember seeing RN & Army Staff in proper WPs. If Bond was in knitwear, it tended to be a light weight looking black roll neck. Maybe cotton or merino wool.I notice that in the photos of the Bond it’s impossible to see the elbow patches?
To be honest I think OKW is under new management and its older, more experienced staff are taking a back seat. I have noticed that their promotional emails are often badly spelled with poor grammar and some of the models look chavvy.

I know what you mean about their models etc.
I should be interested about what they say when they reply to you. I am considering if I should get that Sweater. You’re right - that matches my memories of the Bond movies I grew up with.
I have sent an email to OKW about the elbow patches.

Thank you.Likewise - I shall let you know when they reply.
Did you get an email back from Outdoor Knitwear about the elbow patches on the Bond Navy Sweater ? On the email flyer they sent round it does not mention elbow patches, but when you actually look at it on their website proper, it does mention those. I wonder, if in fact that is a typing error / taken from their regular WPs.You’re right - that matches my memories of the Bond movies I grew up with.

OK, Thanks for that.I had a brief reply from Neil at OKW saying that he would arrange for some photos of the elbow patches to be taken and sent to me. This hasn’t happened yet. My sense is that the current staff (as opposed to the old guard such as Neil) have no idea what is going on and are just pressing buttons on computers, thinking that this is the same as management. I fear that there is a younger generation in charge of OKW who have been educated in the English state system since the 1990s - and therefore not taught to read, write, speak or communicate effectively because to do so would be ‘elitist’ or ‘anti-working class’. This is why I prefer to work with and employ foreigners; their English language and general communication skills are better! I hope OKW don’t go under because of this change in personnel.
