Hi all

I am looking for a sleeveless "Perfecto" style vest.

Schott currently has one in lambskin, but I prefer thicker and stiffer hide like Horsehide or steerhide.

Any tips on where I could find one?

Thanks
PW

HD x Vanson cross zip half belt vest in US cowhide with a matte/Sheen finish and black hardware.

Typical Vanson quality with slightly lighter hide than their comp weight.

Maybe find a used jacket with wrecked sleeves and take them off to make a vest. I know Monitor did that once.

Probably the best option. I've heard of folks being happy enough with options from Skintan in the UK (https://www.skintanleather.co.uk/brando---leather-motorcycle-waistcoat-74-p.asp) for just kicking about in, but a used jacket and DIY is probably the easiest option. Bonus points if the arm is badly damaged, which will reduce competition from people who aren't looking for a sleeveless option.

IMO, with a Perfecto style jacket, once you remove the sleeves the proportions otherwise if anything become even more important. This is a jacket style that 2" too long makes it look ridiculous, all out of whack, and IMO this is only exaggerated by losing the sleeves.

I'll be interested to see what folks pull up here. It's a vest-style we don't see so much of (not sure I ever saw them much at all, anywhere, really), though when done right it can look great. Very practical, too - all the usual P-type pockets for storage.
