I digitised a few photographs from 1959-1960 "Asko" magazines by Finnish ASKO company.

There were several Finnish manufacturers of modular shelving during the 1950s and 1960s. Here is an advertisement by one of manufacturers, showing similar metal shelving as in the colour photograph. The metal parts were painted black, the shelves and cabinets were either birch, mahogany or elm. Teak was also used by some.

Yes, that one is great also. I would really like to upgrade the bookshelves in our library with something like that. Maybe one day. All I need is the $$$$.

Shelving from the turn of the 1950s and 1960s are not that expensive in Finland, one like in the black and white photograph made out of teak might fetch around 100 € or a bit more.

Wow!!! Something like that would easily run 4 or 5 times that, or even more, here in the States.

Blue as a wall colour seems to have been popular for a few years in Finland during the late 1950s to the early 1960s.

Flooring is made out of heartwood of Scots pine.

That floor looks great. The carpet is very nice too.
That is a very nice shade of blue. Fairly popular hue here during that time as well.

I really enjoyed the videos too, even though I don't savvy much Finnish. (None, truthfully)

The Story of a Wallpaper Factory (2005). Besides showing interesting vintage wallpapers manufactured by a Finnish factory founded in 1930, this short film also includes a clip from 1961 Fair held in Helsinki. The clip starts from 3:43. I like this style but I'm old enough to remember people being embarrassed by this style and throwing it out, giving it to thrift shops or painting it black. Ah, the 80"s and 90's. Now this stuff costs a packet and hipsters love it. Or did last time I checked.
