Technically, you're right. But the below can be considered in the same class as the 1000 mile boot and to some the definition and/or description of a "Dress Boot" may be relative to their lifestyle.

I know this particular thread is rather old, but I have a pair of military "jump" boots that look like these, except mine are higher.

Lovely boots! I've been looking for this style for ages. Any clues as where to get them (without paying to have a pair made by hand)?
What size do you wear? I am always finding things, and have a possible purchase on a few pair similar in many aspects to these in the picture, vintage 1940's or early 1950's, one pair never been worn or laced. One I am trying to obtain is promised for a member of the lounge already that missed out on buying the boots in this picture...but if I know a size to be looking for, it helps, unless you want a pair to plant flowers in! LOL!

Not dress boots - more modernized country boots, but I wanted to put a plug in for Grenson Freds. Being part of the Rushden line (and thus made in India) they get a bad rap in connoisseur circles. But I have had a pair for about a year and whle I can't comment on their long term durability, so far they are wearing well. But the most interesting thing is that I never seem to fail to get compliments from strangers when I wear them. I have more expensive boots of the same ilk (e.g. Trickers Stowe) that never receive comments. I guess it is the exaggerated detailing on the Freds that does it. But the tan finish is also very nice.

a button hook is always quicker, but they made the tops slightly looser a fit than my vintage pair have so they can be buttoned up by hand with ease

I have been after a pair of 1930s Boots for years. These are the famous Regal brand in NOS 11D. I say 30s because of the narrow waist. Quite a score when you look at the condition. I suspect they have always been wrapped up in a box and fairly airtight.

Can't wait till they arrive Down Under = still winter though today was 20C!

Nordstrom is currently having a sale. I was treated to a birthday gift of a pair of Allen Edmonds Dalton dress boots! I'm thrilled with them.
If anyone is in the market I suggest striking while the iron is hot!

Thanks, gotta check it out. BTW, it would be nice if we could have some type of "sales and deals" announcement thread on the FLounge. I've a feeling that posts like yours often get lost in the shuffle around here.
