I'm fascinated that Old Spice is considered wearable. When I grew up and well into the 1990's Old Spice was viewed as the aftershave an unthinking slob would view as acceptable. A lazy, mainstream and child-like choice you'd pick up at the supermarket. Hannibal Lector even makes fun of Old Spice in Red Dragon.

I personally don't wear aftershave or any kind of cologne.

I personally have a positive connotation with "Old Spice"; my Dad (R.I.P.) used it, so the smell reminds me of him and my childhood.
OK, it's a very simple and old-fashion scent; so what, it's still unique and sticks out (aka: smells out) of the crowd of countless scents on the market today.
Any product that is still produced and used over so many decades, can't be that bad and obviously still has enough fans and sales. Just like the classic "4711 Eau de Cologne".
IMO, they changed the scent of "Old Spice" a little over time. I believe it use to smell stronger like the spices (i.e. Cinnamon and Cloves), now it has more citric notes to it.
What ever; I like wearing it when spending time with my daughter and enjoy it when she says "that smells like Papa" :)

4711 Echt Kölnisch Wasser, right now.:D

I suddenly liked to do an experiment!! So I went to drugstore around the corner, thirty minutes ago and grabbed the 20 milliliter natural spray flakon. I wanted to find out, if I could really get the classic refreshing effect of 4711 Cologne. And yes, it seems to work. But the effect is much weaker than I thought.

The fragrance itself is really nice for me, but nothing special. It seemingly didn't change. Smells exactly, as I remember the "infamous" towelettes. ;) Old-fashioned aldehyde are still there.

Definitely not bad! When the oily neroli finally comes through, it's getting warmer, but hey, it's just an short smelling cologne.

And I'm really looking forward to test the refresh-effect in summertime! :)

Does anyone make a decent bay rum? I have the taylors of old bond st version and the smell disappears in minutes.
