raised armholes, lowered waistline

This BostonGlobe article credits the slim suits to fitness

GlobeSlimSuits

And credits the BritMod look of the `60s&80s.

"In the case of Theory, a company that makes suits that straddle the line between Kenneth Cole and Prada, the way to show off the new, improved male body is to raise the arm holes in suit jackets and lower the waistline so pants don't ride as high on the hips. This makes the torso look longer and adds height, plus it's intended to show off washboard abs."

But I like the pom pomp hat. I could scare the neighbors and look nice at the same time. Nothing beats a nicely dressed thief.

Hi Ho Fedora!

Yes I know it's not a fedora.

It's funny how the article makes it sound like it's the new thing.

I have seen a lot of women's jackets with high armholes. Any idea why this is so?

Note the high waist on that skier's jacket.

How can the low waistline show off "washboard abs"? Longer torso look? sure, but the suit is still being worn with a shirt right?

We know that is marketing to sell fashion to the drones. :)

Want a longer torso? Wear your pants down to your knees. Oh wait, that is already being done...

Because a high waisted pant can act like a corset & pull in a guy's gut.
Low waist trouser w/ a fitted shirt would not really let u get away w/o sucking it in alllll nite.

According to "statistics" the majority of Americans are overweight.
Who exactly are these guys with "washboard abs" and why is the fashion industry catering to such a minority? Hmm....

These are the men who either have good genetics or work out a lot and have the money to blow on fashion all the time. I suppose it's a good selling point to basically say that people will notice your hot body to those driven by their egos and fit into the category I just described.

Because they are ego manical fools just like them. They cater to their own. :p
The average weight for a man in the US is 190 lbs according to the CDC. Gee, I wonder what segment of the puny population they are going for. ;) :p
