At the request of @BobHufford I have begun looking into Melton Hats. It looks there may have been a couple of different companies that used the name Melton.
K & B Melton
Melton-Rothschild
H. Friedman "The Melton"
and Lincoln, Bennett & Co England, maker of Melton Hats and Caps which really doesn't fit into this, but I am including it to show that it is a completely unrelated company.

Melton Hat Company of Danbury CT/New York NY
Melton Hat Company Bethel CT which bought out H. Friedman and may may the same company as Melton Hat Co of Danbury/New York.
My research is still progressing ongoing.
