Hi all,

I thought I would not crash Matts thread on his super trousers he has had made. I just thought I would post a picture of some I had made at a Tailor in London called McKenzies(Sp?)

They are Flannel, all in about 15-16oz. They are all the same style just different colours. In the picture of me wearing the trousers I do not have braces on so they are creasing slightly and of course I have no shoes on either.

Thank you Mat.

The Tailor was very accommodating, and really enjoyed making something a little bit different. Whilst I was being measured (I had an original pair of trousers on) a French fashion designer came in (Apparently quite well known?) and shook my hand and in his broken English told me that the 1930s style was his favourite, and he takes a lot of inspiration in his modern creations.

The trousers themselves are very nice, the only down side is the half lining, which I suppose in the end is actually quite comfy!

Smashing. Especially the darker greys. I'm moved to quote Wodehouse:

‘There are moments, Jeeves, when one asks oneself, ‘"Do trousers matter?"’
‘The mood will pass, sir.’

Very nice trousers. But they're a bit long, IMO.

What's wrong with half lining? Did trousers never have them in the past?

I am very happy with the length. With shoes on and braces they sit just perfectly and how *I* like them. The tailor was very good, he did what I said, not what he thought, apart from the half lining.

I am very happy with all three pairs of trousers, I have decided to go for a pair of blue flannel trousers next.

My next 'modern' purchase will be a pair of Crockett and Jones Spectators to wear in the summer.

Kindest Regards

Ben

I think they were one and a quarter inches. I can check that. Any smaller and because of the width of the leg they do not have the right proportions.

The thickness (depth) of turnups on trousers is quite a science really..
Too small and you look like you couldnt afford the trousers in the correct length n the first place..
Too much and you look like a cartoon version of yourself all Oxford Bags etc!!..
Just right... and that would be? about 1 1/4 inches i think!!!
