Matchy-matchy or not so much-y?

I don't like to overdo it - nothing looks more costumey than leopard print hat, gloves, bag, shoes and scarf! But black bag, gloves, shoes and hat is fine by me. I don't fret over it generally, but I can't bear clashing prints - floral blouse with herringbone trousers and gingham shoes!! That kind of thing just ruins a vintage look.

I am very matchy matchy! I like to match my shoes and bag, as it's a great way to pull an outfit together. In summer I am always carrying my white bag and wearing white shoes. In winter it's usually black and black. If I wear Navy I'm usually wearing white and red too, so though I don't have any navy shoes, I might carry one of my navy handbags and wear red or white shoes instead.

I do go a bit further though, and match my headscarves to either my outfit, shoes or handbag, and my clip on earrings/brooch/jewellery have to either match or pick up a detail colour. I have one incredibly coordinated summer outfit, consiting of a cotton dress with black, white, green and coral, with green bakelite jewellery and coral finger and toe nails. I even impressed myself when I managed to find the exact shades to match! lol

I think this is the fun of it. I like the hunt. I recently besides being obsessed with emerald green have noticed red and purple together. I was watching a recent movie set in the 1950s and the actress had this color combo on. I had never worn it before but then thought...hmmmm. I like that. :D

I bought a argyle cardigan a few years ago with baby blue and gray on cream background. I for the life of me cannot find the blue to wear underneath it and it is pretty much passe now. :eusa_doh: Just wouldn't wear it till I found the right thing. It is vintage and I cannot figure out the blue.

Purple is just red and blue hues mixed together, so red and purple would look great! Kind of like green and blue (or yellow) together. Would the blue in your cream cardigan work well with soft beige (almost a lingerie color) or pearl gray?

tried beige and it looked too washed out. Cannot seem to find the correct blue or gray. I thought it would be simple.

:D As a last ditch resort, go into the nearest Home Depot or other such store and mosey over to the paint section. Use the computer sampler to select the colors as if you were looking for paint color on your walls (the cream) and accent colors (the baby blue and gray) and see what it pops up with. :D :D

I suppose your cardigan/sweater should work great with a dark navy blue - nothing too bright, but definitely darker in tone. Skirt, top and shoes in navy and probably some pearls to match the cream. That should make the pastels pop out :)
