Wowsers! I've not seen gunfire like this since the AL days. Whew!!!!!!!
I think a lot was learned from those days and the bartenders seem much quicker to step in and quash a pointless squabble before it gets nasty and personal.
I’m grateful for this, but I must admit I do like it when the goofballs show up from time to time and try to tell us who we should be or how we should be…and I’m always happy to see them leave too!

I couldn't find out which jacket it was actually about in all the text deserts. But one that it could apply to was advertised by Fjorde on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DG-0cWEuOlm/
I know Fjorde is controversial here, but you can at least see the jacket in the post, if it's actually about this jacket.

That's the jacket!

Wow, it looks super-pale in that as-new state.

Not to kick a dead horse here. I just find this……..interesting? Last week Master supply released a horse hide perfecto style jacket and their big claim is that it has Talon Zips. It’s a big push from them. So a couple things. This is certainly their best effort yet. Which at 577 why would you buy that when for a few hundred more you could get a “real” biker jacket or a used one for the same cost? Like I’ll give them a tiny iota props for upping their game a touch. But really we all know this doesn’t hold a candle to an original 50s/60s jacket nor even a Vanson or a Schott like I said you could get for just a bit more. It doesn’t not even close.

But in regards our friend here I find it a little too coincidental they show up like 2 weeks before their biggest push and most biker, most “heritage” most TFL style jacket drops. It’s almost as if they had a plant come here and push cost effectiveness, hit marketing buzzwords like heritage and try to drive traffic to their site. A little too convenient if you ask me. It’s like they did a TFL think tank and tried to come up a jacket they thought this Demographic would love. Again they were wrong but you get where I’m going. They had a jacket they thought we would love and then sent someone to get eyes and clicks. What a backfire but you can’t change my mind this is 100% what happened here.

I have thought about this, but I keep coming back to the fact that he is such a terrible messenger. I know there is the saying that any press is good press and it is undoubtedly true that he got people talking about master supply. But there was nothing about him that you could relate to or that made you think, yeah, I’ll give these guys a shot.
For that reason, I think that he was an organic genuine goofball, still is I’m sure.

I mean I can also totally 100% see this being true as well. I am also a big fan of saying goofball; I also love throwing out a good dyngus. Get a load of this dyngus.

Tombstone is probably the crappiest name I’ve seen on a leather jacket. Whatever will they come up with next?

A matching “Eulogy” belt and “Last Rites” boots? Maybe throw in a “Final Rest” wallet to complete the set? That should let people know how hard you’re trying to get in an early grave lol

I also find hysterical they are pushing talon zips so hard. How about you pick a really nice decent leather? Once you have that sorted out then you can start worrying about your damn zips!

Putting the cart before the horse - the master supply way I suppose.

Looking closer at the picture, the ticket pocket flap looks "dainty" and doesn't gel with the rest of it. Strange choice to design it that way.

I've learnt of Talon here in TFL and if you point a gun to my head I would not be able to tell you why (or if) Talon is better than YKK. Meanwhile, I did know of CXL and that there's different kinds of leathers and tanneries, so I don't even understand why would they focus on the zippers when their target customer shouldn't be expected to be aware of differences there.

My only guess is that it is easier and cheaper to get your hands on Talon zippers than on a reputable tannery's leather.

When it comes to naming convention? I would be waiting for "Hearse" :)

Yes, those are good names because they get the point across without being overly nasty, perfect for a forum like ours.

They are not better than YKK, they have more cachet in the repro jacket world is all. I can only recall one YKK zipper failing, and that was when I filled a suitcase way past what it could hold and tried to zip it closed while kneeling on top of it. Any zipper would have broken. In my 10 years in the jacket world I have had two Talons fail on me, both almost brand new.

Pretty much this
Some prefer having vintage zippers on their repros as it's more period correct - myself included. However, that's not to say modern zip makers like YKK or RiRi are lacking any functionality and I wouldn't knock someone for having a jacket with them installed either. It's just my preference.

It also depends on where MSC sourced their repro zippers from - somehow I have a feeling these won't be great. Even Real McCoys (who are leagues ahead of MSC) have issues and zipper-failure with their repro talons according to multiple members here.

It looks downright ladylike, doesn’t it?!?
I was being generous calling it a ticket pocket when it looks more like a place to keep some lipstick
