Margaret Truman has died

I just noticed this yesterday. Margaret Truman Daniel, daughter of president Harry Truman, died on Jan 29.

Didn't Harry Truman want to punch out a reporter for something the reporter said or wrote about the daughter?

Harry was quite a guy!

Yep - wrote a somewhat unflattering review of her singing in a concert and Harry read it in the morning paper and dashed off a letter, I believe, saying he was going to punch him in the noise if he ever saw him.

Can you imagine a President today saying that???? At least he defended his daughter...not good pr, but being a dad, I can understand his anger.

That's part of Truman's "charm" - he spoke his mind. He didn't have to run it through speech-writers and spin-doctors and various other staffers to water it down and make it sound different and really end up saying nothing. "The buck stops here."
