Bassman's got it - shirt and tie! Maybe some gabardine trousers (pants), and workboots. That way you're taking it back to before its rebel biker associations.

It appears that the common areas in the photos you do not like are:
1. unruly hair / long hair
2. jacket open / belt not used
3. shirt not tucked in and sticking out the bottom of the jacket.

The photo of the look you like is of a clean cut / shirt tucked in / every zipper on the jacket closed and belt used.

So wear the jacket with jeans, boots (cowboy / hiking / casual) your call, any shirt you like, fasten the belt, zip the zippers, but most important is be confident in your look. This will dictate how you feel in the jacket more than anything.

Shoot, I have worn mine with everything from no hat to cowboy hats.
