This may not be the place or maybe it is for this topic. As we have chatted about breast cancer and/or other women issues. I saw this guy on tv this morning and wondered if any of you have any thoughts. I am seeing alot of younger people having or needing this information anyway. Sandy

this guy was a pioneer in IVF and now is saying it is very overused is the jest of it.

I think there is some sense to a lot of the things he has to say, but I'm sceptical of any proven 3 month programme that pretty much says it can guarantee you'll get pregnant. Doctors can sometimes be guilty of suggesting ivf when its not needed, especially here in the UK where you're only contact with infertility specialists can be, as in my own case, a barrage of blood tests and sperm samples arranged by your own doctor followed by a 5 minute appointment with a specialist consultant. We had been trying over a year, and were told due to irregular periods and very low sperm count our only chance was ivf. As we already had one child we weren't entitled to any free cycle we decided to keep our energies and cash for our son. Of course, I am that tale sickening to so many long-term sufferers in that 2 months later I was pregnant!

My friend on the other hand went through years of suffering recurrent miscarriages and read every piece of information on what she could do to help her chances. She turned to ivf, and donor eggs, as a very last hope and a very needed hope.

I guess I have issue with those who are against ivf altogether, and they do exist. But there is sense to those who see it as a necessary form of treatment in many cases, that is possibly sometimes turned to a little too quickly
