I wanted to share two treasures I purchased this past weekend…
Madame Yevonde was one of Britain’s most esteemed portrait photographers in the 1930s, and made huge contributions to color photography with her work using the VIVEX color process…(this processed used THREE separation negatives exposing C M and Y colors, which could be balanced separately, much as we would use photoshop today…and these would have to be aligned together by hand to print the final photo)…
Yevonde is the cover subject of the premiere issue of Zelda, the magazine I just launched ( http://www.zeldamag.com ), and I am just so excited to let the world know more about her and her work…you can see more at http://www.madameyevonde.com .
The prints I purchased:
Dorothy, Duchess of Wellington as Hecate (from the Goddesses series, 1935)
Study for the cover of Women and Beauty Magazine, 1937
I am so over the moon about her work, and wanted to share with you all!!!
