BTW, don't be so hard on yourself, Miss Samantha--history geekesses have a unique kind of attractiveness all your own... Just make sure that if you're ever in an event I'm attending, that any weapons you pack are pointed away from me, please. (Explanation by Private Message upon request.)
Need I mention actress/scientist Hedy Lamarr? :)

:eusa_clap Kudos to you Carter, that's great you adopted a foster / rescue dog. My Springer, Cocoa is a rescue dog, and he's the best dog I could have ever asked for. :) Here's another shot of my guy that I took yesterday. Look at those snowshoes he has for paws!

Kilroy, Cocoa is a beauty! You just can't beat a good rescue dog. Snowshoes and all, Springers are wonderful dogs.
We rescued an English Springer named Casey from Special Pals in Houston years ago. She was a great dog who never met a trash/garbage can she didn't like. Had she been human, her favorite pastime would have been dumpster diving.
Maybe another Springer will adopt me some day
. :)

Here's my Australian Cattle Dog 'Arizona' in the neighbor's yard today. High winds last night blew off all the leaves from thier ginko tree (reportedly the state's largest) creating this golden carpet.

Camille, and BeBopBaby I love your gray kitties! I, too, have a gray kitty.

Here are my two boys...Tex Beneke is the gray one and Harry James is the black one.

I had a gray cat just like yours. His name was J.W. (Johnny Walker) When he was a kitten my dad was lying on the floor playing with him and the kitten came over and started drinking his scotch....so we named him J.W.

That is a funny story...those cats can be mischievous little devils!

Lady Day, I remember seeing pix of you wrinkledoggie. What a nice puppy.

Lotus, those are 2 very lovely kitties and I'll bet they have a lot of character.

Everyone's pets are so wonderful!

Lotus - Your kitty Tex looks just like my mom's cat Lulu. Lulu is one of those weird cats that sound like they say moma when they meow. lol Lulu also sounds like she meows my mother's first name.

Quigley - Arizona has one of the best dog smiles ever.

Carter - Your Molly McButter makes me smile because one of the nicknames I call my cat Molly is Molly McButter. Sometimes I make up songs about Molly to the tune of the Molly McButter jingle and sing them to her. (Did I mention that we're just a tad bit goofy in our house?)

KilroyCD - Cocoa has an awesome dog smile too!

LadyDay - Georgia just looks like the kind of dog you need to snuggle.

For some reason best known to their sick and sorry selves, someone decided to throw our cat into the stream on Saturday

Luckily he wasn't hurt (much) just a few scratches and bruises - he came in through the cat flap soaked to the skin with black, stinky, soggy, ooze, and spent the rest of the day sitting on the stairs growling at anybody who walked past the house. Sad thing is that before then Graeme was a happy little tiger who loved everybody in the world and would go pottering up to total strangers for a cuddle (not to mention following his "mum and dad" into cars for trips to the shops...) and it looks like he's learned his lesson the hard way.

There are some very funny people in the world, and not all of them are locked up...

It is my very firm belief that there is a special place in hell for people who are cruel to cats.

Yeah it would have been nice to think that he'd extracted his pound of flesh prior to immersion, but sadly he is far too well-mannered a cat for that.

I was about to post a link to a story I saw in our local paper the other week about another poor soul, but no - it made me furious at the time and I've no desire to turn the thread into a flaming lynch mob.

People who are cruel to animals, generally..... a very warm place indeed is reserved for them.
