HI John

Sorry to here of your loss. I think it's time to go Dachshund shopping though. We lost our 10 plus year old toy poodle last Xmas and it's painful.

Thanks again everyone. I do hope to get another dog in the future when the time is right.

I recall the last dog my brother had Barney, a shepard beagle mix . In his last days one of the cats Greeky would lay with him and keep him company.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss, John. I'm still mourning the loss of my old husky, but now there's room in my heart and my home for Finn, who helps me with my sewing by lying on the fabric because he thinks it's a dog bed.

John, I am *so* sorry to hear about your loss.

In another forum I'm on, there was recently posted a story about a family that had to have their elderly dog put to sleep, and the vet came to the house so the dog's last hours could be in a familiar place of comfort. After, the vet stayed for a while to talk to the family, and the subject came around to how sad it is that our pets live such short lives compared to humans. Then, the poster recounts, the family's six-year-old kid piped up with this:

"Humans live a long time because it takes a while to learn to enjoy life and be good to each other. Dogs already know that, so they don't need the extra time."

Made me smile a sad little smile.

Excuse me for a moment. I have to go hug Mr. Bobo.

My newest friend; she is a yorkie chihuahua mix that was rescued from a really horrible situation. I've had her about 2 months. Her name is
Iris. When they saved her, she was a pound. When I got her, she was 2 1/2. She is now up to her ideal weight of 4 1/2 lbs. She is an absolute love. Well behaved. Rarely barks. Potty trained. And she loves my shelties, and they tolerate her :D

Good on ya, Maudelynn! We have 8 rescues (don't ask me how that happened), but I don't think there is a truer love than a rescued animal. Iris is a cutie pie! Take good care of her.

This is Max, an over weight (half Avocado) Dachshund.
Full name Max Amillion, AKA Max the Wunderdog AKA Max the Magic Puppy.
He is my best buddy in the whole world. He is half avocado because we have an avocado tree in the backyard and when it drops the fruit, Max is in heaven. The vet says his skin and coat are just wonderful and it is from the avocados, but we do need to put him on a good reduction plan.

Above: Here he is on the floor. He is a little bit heavier than this pix.

A visit to Solvang. (the nose knows!)

He always waits for me to come home and he actually grins when he runs up to greet me!:p
A lovely dog.

Just arrived Friday pm, he traveled from LAX to SFO:

Please meet Remmie, short for Remington. He is a 9 week old purebred wire-fox terrier. He weighs right now about three pounds. He's my deco dog!! He wears a blue & black rep stripe bow tie on his leather collar.
