From yesterday's walk. YEP!! we 'all' got a soaking in the fields!! [huh]

The second one should have been named Richthofen, because he is such a natural little hunter.

(Both are German Schnauzers).

Beautiful dogs! They remind me of the dog I had when I was growing up - his name was Willis. Smartest dog ever. My mom was really torn up when we had to humanely put him to sleep. We couldn't stand to see him suffer anymore, but it was one of the hardest decisions of her life to make.

Paddy, if you are a fan of Richtofen, pm me with your address. I've just finished a wonderful old book from just after the war on him. I will send it out to you!

Lovely Vanity

She stayed with my ex, and died of old age a couple of years ago. She was the smallest cat I ever had! About half the size of Tina, who is also on the small side.

Marlene and Greta move in to Casa Marlowe

Well, back from a solourn in China, and (just about) over the jetlag yesterday, I picked up Marlene and Greta and brought them home. They'll be eight weeks old on Friday, and I suspect a bit of a handful for soem time. given their propensity for climbing, getting in behind the television and so on, getting a pen for while I am at work was definitely a good idea!

Here they are in the carrier on the way home:

And enjoying their new bed:

Plating on the scratching post:

And with their snake toy:

Greta is the tabby - she did at first seem silver, like her mum, though she's going browner at present. Marlene, like her brothers (the other two in the litter of four) is black and long haired, with Persian facial features, just like her daddy. o far, Greta appears more the lap cat, while Marlene prefers a shoulder to sit on. Both quite the climbers. Very soft little kitten voices at present, though Marlene has the loudest purr. When I left for work this morning, they'd gone back to their bed to play with their teddy, Bogie the Bear.

Aww, they are lovely! I hate being allergic!

I know I'm biased, but they are adorable, and so tiny.... I tried putting the little kitten collars I bought on them last night, but they were so loose even at the smallest setting that they immediately got legs caught up in them. Maybe in a couple of weeks - kittens grow fast.

As to the allergy thing, I did read in the paper a few months back that there is now a course of injections you can have to innoculate yourself against allergy to cats - doctors now recommend this for anyone allergic who really wants to have a cat. Got to be cheaper than one of those pedigree hypoallergenic kittens!

Definitely fun..... somehow my little flat feels more like a home again with copious quantities of cat hair everywhere.... Given how quickly they've discovered the scratching posts, I am hopeful they will stick to them and not my leather chair or speaker grilles!!

Funny you should say that - I was just thinking the other day that my house would feel really empty without my three kitties - and this coming from a gal who used to abhor cats (basically because I was allergic to them). But they are so much a part of our lives now that our house simply wouldn't be the same without them.

Rikrdo, what a gorgeous pup, although in the first shot, he looks ready to pounce on someone! lol
