They are great. My son had one till it passed last year. I was just thinking of her today when I was chopping up some celery… all the odds and ends would have gone to her.

My wife does the same when she cooks; the result is that every time she walks into the room where they are they expect her to hand out treats, as she does not pet them or give them chew toys like I do.

We started out with one for my daughter- who lost interest fairly quickly- and after I learned more about them, decided to rescue them in pairs from shelters. When one passes on, I get another one so they're never lonely.

Here's my original guinea pig Oscar:
(Disclaimer: He doesn't make that sound in real life; it was added for humor value!)

Our first two cats would run into the bathroom whenever my wife turned on the faucet and jump up onto the sink countertop, where they would take turns sticking their heads under the water stream and drinking the water as it poured down their foreheads into the sink.

Ever had to shower with a cat? Ours are really weird...
Almost. Our cats have been mostly indoor cats; one was an outdoor cat, left behind when my sister moved so we took responsibility for his care, and our first female cat got out of the house once and by the time we found her she needed a bath. In my mind the easiest way to do that would have been to take her in the shower with me (in order to contain the dirt and other debris I'd wash out of her fur) but my wife decided the kitchen sink would be better and she was right. Once our little girl got used to being in the warm water she started to like it, and she actually complained a bit when we were finished and removed her to dry her off.
