Cool story. Sounds like she knows your interests. I love finding a stand of pines and spruce out deer hunting. Fine place for a nap. Ha
In the Spring & then Summer of 2013 starting when she was 7-8 months old is when I first took her in the canoe. She was a natural. In March 2014 after a long winter I was working on something out in my shop bldg & she was with me. One of my canoes hangs upside down from the ceiling. After a bit I looked around for her & she was sitting underneath where that canoe was hanging; she would look up at the canoe, then look at me! She was ready to go! But it would be more than a month before the water would be warm enough to canoe.

You've talked me into it. We're headed to the river to look for arrowheads in the canoe! See you later!

Makes me want another cat, GHT. I just wouldn't do that to a cat now, not with this pack.
The cat's name is Ruby. We had a Birman cat that was a rescue, her name was China-Doll, she just moved in and took over. We provided the love, the care, the food, the vet's bills and she provided the haughtiness, the self importance, the arrogance and the self entitlement, and we fell headlong in love with her. During her lifetime, we have bought, rather than rescued, three more Birmans, the last being Ruby Mae. That adorable, loving, annoying little sh*t, has taken over the mantle of China-Doll. China left us for Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago, Ruby became part of the family ten years ago, when we celebrated our Ruby wedding anniversary.

That's more common than you might think. When one of the two cats that we had at the time, died, the survivor became listless and withdrawn. She lost the fur on her legs. The vet explained that the cat was so stressed over her bereavement that she was suffering from alopecia. She did eventually recover, adopting one of our two spaniels was her was her way of dealing with it. The dog didn't agree, but then, being a dog, the poor thing didn't get a say in it.
