Lost Worlds J23 Version 2.0

Some time back I received a jacket from a prominent member of these forums. After some thoughts back & forth, I decided to purchase this Size "46" LW J23 knowing that it did not have the fixed quilted liner as my version 1.0 jacket did. That had been the main reason for moving it along, as it simply regulated it's useful time to only a few months out of the year. The rest of the upgrades to this jacket were happenstance, however I find myself appreciating them as I get to know this jacket.

Similarities between Version 1.0 and 2.0:
  • Both LW J23 in 4-OZ Chrome Tanned HorseHide
  • Both have snap on collars
  • Both built with provisions for the belt
Differences between Version 1.0 and 2.0:
  • No Quilted liner in Version 2.0, Rayon only similar to Easy Ryder
  • Full belt included
  • Brown verses Black snap-on fur collar
  • 100% Crown Zippers
  • No brass zips, all sliver/chrome hardware
  • Size 46 V 2.0, Size 44 V 1.0 so slightly more room here
While technically "pre-owned" I would never have guessed it, aside from just a small amount of graining occurring in the sleeves. Absolutley everything about this jacket was still in 100% new condition, and not a stitch out of place with it inside and outside. I am quite thankful for how this jacket turned out and I have been wearing it around inside the house some to start to get a feel for how this monster will start to break in.

Also one evening the rain started, and the J23 picked me up and took me for a walk. That is sort of how it goes with these LW jackets. It was finally a reasonable enough temperature this morning to put on this jacket and take some fit photos outside, so I could at least start to give this J23 the kind of photography it well deserves. This is only a start of what I have planned for this jacket in the coming months, as the weather gets more into jacket season.

Ok so enough words, here are some fit photos at various states of the jacket's specifications - Starting with the fur collar on:

Then the fur comes off and we keep the belt in the loops:

Initial impressions -
  • While difficult to see in these photos, this LW J23 is taking up grain much more quickly than the Version 1.0 jacket did.
  • In no manner is this a "lighter" jacket - it was over 11.5 lbs as sent and the packaging was less than 1.5 lb
  • The belt is cotton backed; I have some detailed photos of it. If I had ordered the belt myself, I would have skipped the "studs" that it comes with. They are at least somewhat rounded off, however they could still cause damage to a bike seat, car seat, car/bike paint finish, etc.
  • However, the studs do look cool and increase the likeyhood this jacket will not get through an airport security screening.
  • I likely will not wear the Mouton collar all that much, but it is interesting to have.
  • You may want to consider if appropriate to wear into a motorcycle shop. I plan to do this here locally. I really am interested in who and how it would be observed.
  • That said, I may not wear it to the motorcycle shop unless I actually ride there. :)
Overall, very happy with this jacket, seems a much more versatile jacket than Version 1.0 was. Thanks for reading, hope this was helpful to anyone considering one of these. Feel free to ask questions or PM me...

Awesome randy, I see the same thing I've already said and saw, perfect fit, your taller frame fits those sleeves just right, score! I hope to see more in the future.
