Up for your consideration is a practically new jacket. It’s a catch and release, unfortunately.

I love this thing and it is stunning. It still has the new jacket smell, feels like it wasn’t worn at all, but it’s a bit bigger on me than I’d like. I could pay to alter it, but I’m on the fence about that.

If I had to evaluate the condition, I’d say 9.8/10. There are some very tiny signs of the jacket having been worn, but very little, if anything, else.

The deerskin is very soft, and there is no restriction in the movement of your arms. While the jacket is labeled a 50, it’s a slimmer fit, so more of a 48L.

The jacket with the features retails for $2,500. I’m asking $1,500 f&f with CONUS shipping included in the total. If you’re international, let’s chat.

Measurements:
p2p = 24” (possibly 25” if you stretch it)
Sleeve = 27”
Back = 28”
Bottom hem = 23”
Shoulder = 20”

Please note that depending on your preferred fit, the deerskin is very pliable so it has some stretch to it.

I saw the increase in price and immediately felt it was exploitative to forum members. Is it my jacket to sell? No. Can he sell it for whatever he wants? Yes. Should I be able to let other community members know that I saw this same jacket sell for significantly less? I believe so.

I don't really have anything more to add. It seems like people are split 50/50. I stand by my decision to post it, and I would hope somebody would do the same thing for me. But then again on the flip side, I'd never try to flip a jacket for that type of increase here. He could have relisted it on eBay and there is no way for me to say a word about it on that platform. I feel like one of the advantages of FL is that we can share information like
You did right. Anyone interested in purchasing would want to know. Boyo probably thankful. Nothing wrong with making a few dollars, its an investment an people get returns on investment. However There is definitely a point when the mark-up is excessive.

I see. Well, the good news is that the word is out there and people will think twice before buying this jacket.
I have seen this behavior called out before on the lounge and I hope it happens every time Something like this goes down.
What’s disturbing is that I have been slandered on an unsubstantiated allegation and instead of any goodwill or the benefit of the doubt having been extended, all sorts of assumptions about my behavior and intentions have been made and repeated.

It’s something of an irony that folks around here pride themselves on camaraderie and goodwill and yet here we are, essentially the digital form of ostracization, with no regard for verifying the truth in the claims made against me nor bothering to take into consideration that I have been on this forum for several years, having successfully engaged in several transactions with other members without incident.

I imagine this is a sort of “bye, Felicia” moment where the same folks who so quickly rushed to judgment won’t care if they are wrong or whether some members of this community leave because of it, but this behavior is ugly and equally sad that there are people who condone it.

Are you saying that you didn’t buy the jacket for under $600 off eBay and then list it here for $1500?
If that is the case then you are right to be upset about the posts of some here, myself included. If that is the case then I offer an apology for my comments above.

It’s a small world in this hobby and there is nothing to be seen that someone here hasn’t also seen.

It is also easy to substantiate an asking price:

“I paid x and I need to get x for it.”

“I paid x but am trying to raise money for lady singers and dolphin steak so I need x for it”

“Here is the receipt showing what I paid”

Being upfront helps. I try and justify my sales prices. Doing that is up to the seller but it does help avoid situations like this where a sale for the original asking price seems a bit unlikely.
I also price my stuff so that I don’t lose money. To me, not losing money is a win. But I’ve also given stuff away and I suppose that is losing yet somehow it feels like winning.

So I guess it’s up to the seller how they want to do biz and what kind of relationships they wish to have here. I’m not saying right or wrong but I think folks can spot the difference. I’m happy to pass along a good deal and karma has shown me that in so doing, it will come back to me. Those are the ethos of this classifieds forum that I *think* most folks follow. Certainly the ones I deal with do.

This is nobody's business!

The jacket was available to literally every single human being on planet earth for what it was sold for on eBay. Missed out on it? Tough luck & instead of being happy for a chance to get another shot at it - Still at half the price Stu'd knock out of your pocket no less - people complain about camaraderie.

Most, if not all long standing members that I know flipped one thing or another for a MASSIVE profit here on TFL. I've seen old-timers listing J-24's at $1150 up-charge over what they got 'em for from eBay, back in the day when people didn't know much about what's what so what's the big deal?

Nobody is getting scammed, buyer is still getting a bad-ass jacket & is guaranteed a smooth and friendly transaction. Just enjoy the fact you can buy this jacket, people & if you can't, keep scrolling.

BTW my post above wasn't directed at you, El Marro; I'm talking in general but I still don't agree it's anyone business what anyone has bought anything for.

I couldn’t disagree more. The past sale price directly correlates to its current market value. This jacket sold for what it did on eBay for a reason. Next guy pays $1.5K and sells it on eBay for sub $500 if it doesn’t workout and loses twice.

Statistically, of course, I agree wholeheartedly.

But I meant specifically about what's happening ITT and what's happening here is prying and harassment. None of this is classified information & anyone can check eBay to determine either the exact or the approx. value of the jacket & see whether they're being had - And most importantly, decide for themselves what the jacket is worth to them because ultimately, that's what it all comes down to - But it isn't anyone's business to whine about it in a FS thread and especially not in such a manner.
What some people are doing ITT is trying to deliberately ruin Memphis' sale by repeatedly pointing out that he is making a profit and that, in my opinion, is trash behavior.

All I'm saying here is, nobody is getting harmed here.

At the heart of the matter is that there are those who have a set of unspoken rules about what things should cost and how those items are presented for sale.

I haven’t cheated anyone in any of my transactions, on the Fedora Lounge, or elsewhere. I’ve been honest and fair. If some folks have their suspicions to the contrary, they are welcome to address their concerns privately and I’m happy to do what I can to alleviate them. Airing that dirty laundry in public? Total dick move.

For example, how is it fair to throw around unsubstantiated allegations? Or to shitpost on someone else’s classified because you don’t like the asking price, the manner in which an item was obtained, or whatever other biases may come to mind?

All of this has made it clear, though, that there is some degree of pettiness in the expectations of would-be buyers. If you don’t want to buy the item, move on. No opinions or pontifications necessary.

If you have concerns, act like an adult and communicate those concerns with discretion. What I’m seeing around here, however, makes the Fedora Lounge a lot less attractive to be a part of.

No offense taken either way Monitor. I see your point and I respect it. I do like to believe in the sense of community here though and I think that members looking out for each other to stop price gouging is a good thing.

Post it on eBay if you want a big profit. Not try an get it from someone that shares the same hobby as yourself. Put yourself in the buyers shoes thats what your failing to do. So if you bought a 1000$ jacket from a tfl member an then found out they got it from ebay for 100$ would you be happy you got the chance to buy it? Or would you like to know this beforehand? Obvious right.

I paid $800 for a pair of Langlitz motorcycle pants while being perfectly aware of three exact same pairs that got sold on Poshmark and Craigslist for approx. $75 each. Would I have lucked out on a fourth pair, had I waited for a while? Without any doubt. Does paying 10x as much for mine make me unhappy? No, because buying them was my choice.

I simply do not understand in what way should the information that the seller is making a profit affect my interest to buy the listed item because at this point in time, it exists only as such, its current state & form and provided I do not have a DeLorean with a Flux Capacitor parked in front of my apartment, any information about its past value is, frankly, completely irrelevant.
