Nice leather for sure. The back is billowy and, from a design perspective, is somewhat less successful than the front.

The back will even out with wear I think. The leather is still feeling a bit stiff for deerskin (the thickest deerskin I have seen so far).

Beautiful jacket,,,,but for me it’s easy too big all over ,,

You mean you would size down?

Heresy. In my system of jurisprudence, that is a hangable offense.

Since I saw the light , I can only agree :D

Incredible taste @red devil once again. I keep thinking what a great cold weather coat this is to take a stroll in.

It's actually pretty polyvalent, it works well during spring and autumn as well, and there is enough room to layer in case we have a harsh winter :)

It looks like it fits perfectly in front and I may be wrong but I believe those courier jackets from WW1 probably were set up to be loose in the back for easier movement. I believe they were on motorcycles and that would give plenty of mobility.

Just a thought

I never saw the attraction of a pea cost in leather but have changed my outlook seeing your LW in deerskin. I like LW interpretation of the pea coat with the curved breast and upper back panel reminds me of the European navy jacket from WWII. The texture and drape of LW deerskin work well their pea coat pattern. Let me see how many jackets I would need to sell to justify buying one.

This overcoat (paletot in French) was used by French military motorcyclists, in motorized and armored troops.

We can still find some in army surpluses in France.

1940s period photograph showing French motorcyclists wearing this "palelot". One of my great uncles who served in a tank division (French military) still has his overcoat. Needless to say, he's not very young anymore.

I received my LW GS Courier Pea Coat last Thursday. Quite impressive. My first Goat. The overcoat weighs about 7 lbs and has a strong odor of new leather. Fortunately, the smell seems to dissipate over time. It's very comfortable, maybe a tad too large (it's a 42R and I usually wear a 42R), but still fits pretty good. I will post pictures (including fit pics) and deliver my impressions in more detail next week. Right now, I'm too busy with the Canadian election that will be held next Monday.

reviving this old thread, I'm thinking about purchasing a lost world deerskin jacket, would love some more insight from the community, how does the deerskin compare to HH in terms of durability? also does the deerskin squeak compared to HH (I don't mind the HH squeak from LW, but if Deerskin doesn't squeak thats an added bonus for me), any other information the community could provide would be much appreciated! And OP would be interested to hear how this jacket has held up over the years!

What type of jacket are you looking for?

The deerskin is softer and drapes better than HH. But on the other hand it is easier to scratch and not as water resistant.

In terms of durability, it really depends on how you use it, but if we are talking normal day to day activities, the jacket should easily outlast you.

The suburban can easily become a daily wearer, it was my first LW jacket. The Sierra looks as easy to use and wear. They will both work well in deer. Which colour are you thinking to go with?
