Looking for tall laced boots which are useful for hiking/hunting

To begin, I'm rather looking for something akin to WWII British despatch rider boots, but with more traction on the soles and smooth brown rather than black. Some pictures:

British Officer Field boots are pretty close, but they seem shorter than what I'm looking for.

Riding boots like those Mojave Jack has are somewhat too tall, but combat boots are too short. Riding boots similar to the Patton boots for sale at onlinemilitaria.net, but somewhat shorter would be good too.

The bigger problem is the sole. I need these to function both as motorcycle riding boots as well as hiking boots. I should also mention that I'm not fond of pure pull on boots.

I very much prefer brown over black, due to me being tired of black. The color of Mojave Jack's boots are very much the kind of brown which I'd like. The chocolate color of Magnoli's Explorer boots would be great too.

Magnoli's Explorers would be good, if I could have a flap over like on the Patton boots. Price is, as for other posters, the problem.

I've been looking for a few days and haven't found anything really suitable. Having dug to the point of finding Men's Knee High Gold Sandles, I figured it was time to admit defeat and come to the board and ask opinions.

For hiking and hunting, I'd go with LL Bean's maine hunting shoe, the 16" ones. Waterproof, comfortable, well built and relatively inexpensive. But not really a motorcycle boot.

Might try searching for logging boots or lineman's boots (used for climbing telephone poles). I used to ride with a guy who always wore lineman boots, he was very satisfied with them. Maybe Carolina was the brand? I can't remember but I have some very tall Carolina engineer boots and they have lasted for years of motorcycle riding.

If you are looking for YEARS AND YEARS of quality out of a hiking and motorcycle boot at a relatively low price i'd suggest current military boots. Just visit your local army surplus store. Brown may be the problem though as that is not really a current military combat/jungle colour. These are boots i'm looking to buy. They are around 100 US dollars.

Altama 4157's (Mil-Spec combat boots):

They are sewn in the same style as your British Combat boots minus the top three-buckled flap.

But if you want a buckled top brown hiking/riding boot then you really need to go 'old military boot' hunting. That is where they had boots for that purpose: To ride a motorcycle then hike through across war-torn europe:

Phantom is right on the money especially if you want the look and to use them for hiking or walking. Dehner also makes a very good quality military boot for the US, again at the Army Surplus stores or order on line. That's where the money is. Wish you luck, send pictures of the ones you choose. I still need to learn how to do that too--John
