Looking for Grey Open Road type Fedora

RBH

Bartender
Hey everone,
Im looking for an Grey Open Road type fedora. It does not have to be a Stetson, but I love the style with the small ribbon on it.
E-Bay has had a few but none in my size
does anyone know where one can find a hat like this either new or vintage.
I have just gotten an Adventurebilt and it is a great hat, but I would love to find a grey felt like this.
Also where can you find a good high crowned straw fedora in a brown or tan color?
I have a Indy straw on order from Peters Bro. but dont know when or if I will get it.
Thank for any help.
Stay Well,
RBH

eBay is not the mall

Finding anything specific vintage item takes time, even
in the days of eBay. If you can't find an Open Road in grey
at 7 3/8 this moment, there may be one next week or next
month. There just isn't a ready supply of 50 year old hats
in nice condition in a particular size and style.

That said, if you put "open road" 3/8 stetson in
the eBay search window, there's a nice grey one listed right now.
If you look for the Mallory, Resistol, Dobbs, or Cavanagh
versions, you may find more.

If it's just the look you want...

If you don't mind a modern hat, Akubra makes a hat that's almost a spot-on duplicate of the Open Road. It's called a Campdraft. Hatsdirect.com can get it if you ask them by e-mail. It will never be as good as a vintage, but Akubra makes a solid modern hat, and it's got the look you want, with an open crown.
