Looking for a good Fez

Just make sure that, once you have you Fez, you don't travel to Turky with it. Could bring you into an awful lot of trouble...

Especially with a monkey on it. lol

I wouldn't mind one like Basil Rathbone is rocking in The Garden of Allah 1936.

I did make myself a soft wool fez for a CW reenacting several years back. The particular zouave impression I was doing required a fez with rather specific features that just aren't available out there in the commercial market. I needed a soft red fez having a flat disk top with a slight indent/rolled edge, and sporting a red tassel.

Believe it or not, I adapted what's known as a fashion beret with quite a bit of effort, boiling water, stainless steel kitchen mixing bowls (don't laugh it's the closest thing I had to a block), and scalded hands. The results weren't too bad, even if I do say so myself. I looked for it today and unfortunately the moths had a feast on it. Drat! :rage:

Pardon the reposting of this but I thought this would be of interest and probably a better thread for additional information.

I snagged this leopard print pillbox hat for a friend of mine. No maker's label, the tag reads 'Union Made 8492' and an interior diameter of 21 1/2" (so size 6 7/8)

Presumably fake fur, but how do I *know* that?

nb: This thing has grown on me - if I could find a decent Nehru jacket, I could rock this look like nobody's business.
