Local Whippet Find

After being new in town for three months now, I finally decided to make my way to the antique shop. Having no hope to find anything that would fit my head, I proceeded to peruse their many offerings.

Long story short, I came across a Stetson Whippet in dark blue, bound edge and all that and sized 7 1/8 (might be 1/4, it was too early this morning :eusa_doh: ).

There was a fault in the felt on the left corner of the diamond bash, and the liner has come loose with some discolouring present.

If anyone is interested, I'd be glad to get pictures and negotiate a price.

Before anyone else asks, the only other hat worth mentioning was a fairly modern stingy brimmed stetson with a long knap. Some skimmers, toppers, and bowlers, but all in pretty rough shape.

I'm busy for the remainder of today and I have classes tomorrow.

Where are you in Indiana? Lafayette was a goldmine of vintage (30s/40s) hats and menswear. I spent 6 years there gathering everything i could afford. There was much more around than i could afford to buy.

Update:

Being the responsible student I am, Wednesday night was an all-nighter followed by much sleeping. Friday was devoted to a class outing.

My most humble apologies, gentlemen. I will trek up to the store tomorrow.

No one has purchased it yet, and I believe Feraud had first dibs.

Okay, my interview got moved to tomorrow, so I had some time to go look at the hat(s).

My attention for details being what it is, the Whippet in question is actually brownish in colour, not blue (there was a blue wool hat that threw me off).

Not only is it not blue, it is, in fact a size 7.

The felt is damaged pretty badly. There's a hole the about a millimeter or two in diameter on the diamond bash:

The liner is actually in perfect condition. The sweat band is still stable and, for the most part, pliable. The leather is a bit on the stiff side, but still has wear left in it.

And the price was actually $30, not $40 as I may have mentioned to a few. There are no moth nibbles to my knowledge.

My apologies for the poor quality of the photos, but I only had my cell phone on me.

Also, if anyone is interested, there was a nearly perfect condition bowler. Apart from a loose sweatband and ribbon, it's immaculate. Size 6 3/4.
