SALE PENDING!

Here's a vintage 1940s light gray Royal Stetson Whippet in really excellent shape. (It's the hat I'm wearing in my profile pic, BTW)

I purchased it several months ago here on the Lounge and subsequently realized that I am more like a 7-3/4, which is too bad because it's in wonderful condition. But a too-tight fedora is no fun, no matter how good it looks, so on it goes to the next, hopefully smaller-headed, lucky individual.

Crown height: 5-1/2 inches unbashed.
Brim: 2-7/8-inch bound brim.
Ribbon: 1-1/2-inch gray grosgrain, slightly darker than the felt.
Extras: Working wind trolley.
Size: It's marked as a 7-5/8 long oval, but measuring inside (which is difficult to do) I come up with a circumference of about 23-5/8 inches, so I'd call it somewhere between a loose 7-1/2 and a tight 7-5/8. But either way, the shape is definitely long oval.
Condition: Absolutely nothing wrong with this hat that I can see.
Price: I paid $280 for it, and I just want to recoup my investment, so that's the asking price. Thought I'd put it up here first before going to ebay.

It's an amazing hat, and in spectacular condition - if your head is big enough to wear it. I think it's the only one we've seen that has 'Whippet' stamped in the sweatband at the front.

If you don't mind a loose fit, I'm 7 1/4 + 1/16, and I wore this hat several times in public, with a Depp-like Hollywood bash - it felt fine and looked great.

Doesn't the felt have a touch of blue to it?
