Lately I've been wearing my father's old Omega Seamaster. It could use a new crystal and a good cleaning but I don't really know a reliable local place that could do this. I like it anyway.

Nice watch with luminescent dots. It is probably a middle to late 50s vintage. They are nice watches that command a decent price---especially if they have solid gold cases. You still seem to have the original crown as well. That is a nice thing to have.
I have a few local guys who do those for me. The crystal doesn't look that bad to me. Some higher end acrylic polish(like Novus http://www.amazon.com/Novus-Plastic-Cleaner-Scratch-Remover/dp/B0035U5ARK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1325125459&sr=8-1
would probably make it more than acceptable to you.

Thanks for the tip. I have some Novus cleaner that I use to clean up artwork. I'll give it a try. The case isn't gold, but you're right, the crown is original to the watch. I believe my father bought it in the mid-50's (1956 or so).

Beautiful item, love the condition of the dial. Mid century Omega Constellations and Seamasters are very popular with lots on eBay these days commanding strong prices.

Hard to find an original unmolested unit. Lots of frankenwatches out there.

Thanks, Talbot. As I stated, my father bought it in the mid-50's to celebrate his move (and subsequent pay increase) from the Toronto Telegram to the Globe and Mail. It's never been tampered with (he did have it cleaned occasionally). It almost met it's end after he passed away, but I managed to rescue it. Good thing I did, apparently.

An Ancre 15 jewel 'deco' watch picked up at a vintage fair last weekend, all I did was polish and clkean the case and face, glass...it runs fine and keeps within 3 minutes or so a day...near enough for me!
It's quite small as gents watches were in the 1930's being just 40mm x 26mm.

It looks a lot like a bulova movement from the same period. The black face is in good condition for its age. Nice.

I was at my Mother's house today, and she had me go through some of my father's things (He died a bit more than a year ago. These three watches were in a Benrus watch box, and I assumed they were old,non-working watches-but as I was turning the Hamilton over, I noticed that it was ticking-so when I got home tonight, I set and wound all three, and so far, they are keeping time. I also found a small logbook he kept from his time in the USAAF during WW2, and one notation mentions that his watch is a Gruen-which makes me wonder if this Gruen was the watch he had on during his wartime service.
Up until the time I got out of college, I wore 'wind-up' Timexes like this one, and I still have a couple that still work in a drawer somewhere-they really were indestructible-I usually got tired of them and got another long before they ever stopped working.

A 1940s rose gold Chronographe Suisse that I got in France years ago just got a new strap! Shown on one of my favorite pocket squares (by Rober Talbott).

A few more--a 1940s Rolex Bubble Back Oyster with rose gold bezel, with its original strap from Donovan and Seamans in downtown Los Angeles--they were on the ground floor of the LAAC on 7th Street. Also, an early 1920s Elgin that is a transitional style--it really is a silver pocketwatch with lugs for a strap. Finally, a 1930s Hamilton in yellow gold--the smaller, elongated case is very typical of the period. I put a modern braided band on, just for fun.

This one is not vintage but a good example of a new retro style Hamilton. I added the pigskin band. Shown on an unusual pocket square by Hermes.
